Vatican Nativity to include fishing boat

The Vatican Nativity scene will feature a replica of a Maltese fishing boat. The Vatican’s governing office said the boat was meant to represent tradition but also serve as a reminder of “the realities of migrants who in those very waters sail on makeshift boats to Italy”.

Rome’s jubilee events attract 20 million

The Vatican’s evangelisation office has said 20.4 million pilgrims have taken part in Rome’s Year of Mercy events. The Great Jubilee of 2000 drew 25 million.
